Book Exchange!
A book exchange is a great way to save money, clean and renew your book collection, and share great books with your friends.
There's no one way to do it - here are just a few suggestions:
- Designate a meeting of your book club for a used book exchange. Each member can bring a up to 5 books they've loved, read and are ready to pass on. If you only have a few books and participants, people can say a few words about each book and why they loved it. If you have more people, let folks browse the pile on their own before or after the meeting.
- Hold a Children's Book Swap - invite the families in your neighborhood to bring books their children have outgrown or already read. Try to keep a balance in the age of kids invited so that you have enough books of an appropriate reading level for everyone to participate.
- Hold a White Elephant book swap - everyone brings a wrapped favorite used book. All books are put onto a table. Have everyone draw numbers from a hat. The person with #1 goes first by selecting and unwrapping a book from the pile. The person with #2 can either take #1's book, or take another book from the pile. If they take #1's book, #1 can choose a new book from the pile. Then it's #3's turn, etc...
